The Kalamunda Eastern Suns have made two major recruiting decisions with the Club securing the services of their men’s and women’s head coaches for the 2018 SBL season.

Men’s coach Michael Clarke and women’s coach Tom Knowles have each agreed to one year contract extensions, giving the Suns certainty and stability ahead of the 2018 season.

Michael Clarke will return for his third season with the Club and Knowles his second. Both coaches remain committed to growing and nurturing young local talent, while also hoping to push for finals places in the 2018 season.

“I’m delighted to be back at the Suns next year. We have shown glimpses of what we are capable of as a side throughout the year. When we play at our best we can match it with just about any side in league. Our focus for next season will be to push for greater consistency and by doing that hopefully bring basketball success to the Perth hills,” said Mr Clarke.

Tom Knowles also spoke of his excitement about returning as the women’s head coach.

“We have unfinished business and I am pleased to be again given the chance to coach the side. I have been pleased with our overall progress this year but we have more work to do. Our goal is to push for a finals berth but this will only come through hard work and commitment by all the players and the coaching staff. The SBL is a tough league so we will have our work cut out for us,” said Mr Knowles.
